Personalizing Your Bath, The Impact of Color in a Small Space

When it comes to adding color to a small space, it’s sometimes hard to know where to begin.  Should you play it safe with a neutral pallet, go bold with a striking color choice or perhaps add some visual interest with a monochromatic scheme?  Whatever your preference, we can help you determine which direction is right for you and your home.

For many homeowners, the goal of their new space is to convert what was traditionally just a functional room into a more personal haven.  Selecting the tone for your space will be transforming, bringing new life to the bath and creating a space that feels intentional.

Organic Appeal

Inspired by nature?  Love the trends you’re seeing in the home furnishings space with soft wood tones and muted colors?  Mixing neutral tones such as the soft appeal of the Drift finish shown here with a soft off-white wall and light gray tones through natural stone and floor textiles, allow for the room to add a nod to nature and give off a serene feeling.  When you walk into a bathroom inspired by natural tones, the room feels warm and inviting and immediately provides a calming undertone.

Beautifully Bold

An easy way to add instant interest and charm to any space is through bold statement colors and combinations.  Starting with your cabinetry style and finish allows you a foundation from which to continue to build your selections.  A painted black finish, grounds the space and is an ideal complement to any number of bold wall pairings.  If you haven’t experimented with creating your own personal mood board, mixing bold finishes and patterns is a great opportunity to gather samples and see how they mix well together.  Order cabinet door or finish samples, gather paint color chips, tile samples and even a piece of hardware to see how your choices may work together.

Monochromatic Moldings

Add a designer touch to any space through the use of coordinated paint.  Introducing a paint in a finish to match your cabinetry, such as on a wainscoting, adds instant character.  Elevate the look even further by tying in a decorative wallpaper with a base color similar to your painted hue, creating a refined look.  Designer Jennifer LeMarr, CKBD, CLIPP, comments that “we designers love when clients are willing to go for painted molding and millwork, to bring the space to life.”  LeMarr continues by noting that “monochromatic is on trend and creates a truly high-end look.”

No matter your style, introducing color, from neutral wood tones to bold blacks and the soft tones in between, allows you to create a space that reflects your own personal style.
