About the Project

In the suburbs of Milwaukee, near the city, their jobs, family and friends, Tim and Terry Ryan had the perfect house to raise three kids. Now that the children are out on their own, the rough and tumble lifestyle of the Ryan household has quieted down a bit. “We love our house, and want to stay here, but it was time to make some changes,” says Terry. “The kitchen was looking pretty worn. We wanted to upgrade the look and quality, and turn it into a space where we could entertain and hang out with friends and family.”

The couple hadn’t renovated since they bought the original, builder grade home. They turned to the designers at Lowe’s for help.

“There were some challenges,” says Tim. “Our kitchen is large, and it’s open to the living room and dining room. They helped us create a look that would work with the rest of the house.”

Tim and Terry’s new kitchen features a large island that’s perfect for gatherings. To add contrast and visual interest, the Ryans chose Shenandoah’s McKinley cabinets in two tones -- Maple Auburn and Maple Cream. The result? An elegant, furnished look that blends beautifully with the rest of their home.

“This is definitely my dream kitchen,” remarks Terry. “It’s great for cooking and entertaining. It’s exactly what we wanted.”
